Prevencion y Control de Rickettsia
Prevencion y Tratamiento de Enfermedades
The project focuses on preventing the transmission of Rickettsia from tick bites to pets and humans by applying Fipronil, carried out by the Department of Vector Control throughout the city, as well as in targeted areas where more cases of Rickettsia infection have been reported. There will also be efforts to raise awareness about the importance of measures needed to prevent the spread of the pest, as well as the importance of immediate attention in case symptoms of a tick bite appear. These actions aim to reduce the number of infections and deaths, particularly among children, who are the most affected by this disease.
In addition to controlling the pest, the goal is to supply the health sector with injectable Doxycycline to be administered as needed. This medication is the only treatment available for this disease, which causes death in more than 90% of cases without it, and there is currently an insufficient supply in the city. With these two actions—awareness and prevention, as well as providing the medication—we aim to reduce the mortality rate in the city.

Circulos Magicos Matematicos
Educación Básica y Alfabetización
Círculos Mágicos Matemáticos is an educational program aimed at improving mathematics performance of elementary students in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The program focuses on gamification to forter mastery of basic mathematical operations Addition, Subtraction, multiplication, division and multiplying tables, where students collaborate and play to solve problems, enhance critical thinking, and develop a positive attitude toward mathematics. By providing hands-on activities, teacher training, and fostering teamwork, Círculos Mágicos Matemáticos helps students build strong mathematical foundations. Latest results from the PLANEA (Plan Nacional para la Evaluación de los Aprendizajes) and standardized math testing reveal the pressing need for intervention. In Ciudad Juárez, over 70% of students in public schools scored in the lowest proficiency levels in mathematics, indicating severe gaps in basic skills and problem-solving abilities. These results are part of a national trend, where the majority of students fall below the expected standards for their grade level, highlighting the critical need for targeted support in math education. Círculos Mágicos Matemáticos directly addresses these challenges by offering students a structured yet engaging approach to learning math, aiming to lift performance and reduce the number of students scoring in the lowest levels of national standardized tests like PLANEA. The program’s long-term goal is to not only improve test scores but also to nurture a deeper understanding of mathematics and foster a generation of confident problem-solvers.

Keeping Children Safe and Building Peace: Support the San Juan Diego Children’s Dining Room
In the Fronteriza Baja neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez—one of the most vulnerable areas in our city—there’s a place where hope beats stronger than hardship. Since 2009, the San Juan Diego Children’s Dining Room has been a sanctuary, giving children not only warm meals but also a path toward a better future. During school years, over 110 children find here more than food—they find safety, structure, and the chance to thrive, away from the risks lurking on the streets.
Every afternoon, children from the nearby primary school arrive to the dining room, where teachers and volunteers welcome them with open arms. They come for a meal, but they leave with much more. These children receive the love and support that shields them from dangerous paths—paths that too often lead toward crime. By keeping them engaged, nourished, and educated, we reduce the chances of them becoming future recruits for gangs or criminal activities, building a safer city for all of us.
Crime prevention starts with opportunity. After eating, children get help with homework and reinforce their learning, building the skills and confidence they need to stay in school and stay focused on their dreams. Instead of wandering unsupervised in the streets, where crime waits to pull them in, they find a place filled with learning, friendship, and support.
But it’s not just about academics. We channel their energy into positive activities like painting, music, dance, and sports, showing them new ways to express themselves and giving them tools to develop their talents. This helps keep them away from criminal influences and teaches them values like discipline, teamwork, and empathy, building the foundation for a more peaceful life and future.
For many children, this dining room is the only place where they feel safe and cared for. With parents working long hours, some even absent, the program acts as a second home, giving them the emotional support they need to resist negative influences.
The impact is clear: Every child we help is one fewer potential recruit for crime. Every child we guide toward learning and growth is one more step toward peace in our community. By keeping them out of harm’s way, we are actively dismantling the cycle of violence and planting the seeds for a safer Ciudad Juárez—especially in vulnerable areas like Fronteriza Baja.
None of this would be possible without the support of the Juárez Chamizal Rotary Club and generous donors like you. Each child costs $800 USD per year to support, and every donation—no matter how big or small—helps us continue offering these children hope and protection. If needed, we can also provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for your contribution.
Your donation does more than feed a child; it keeps them away from crime and offers them a chance at a life filled with purpose, not fear. By supporting this program, you become part of the solution—removing potential recruits from crime and helping create lasting peace in our city and community.
Together, we can change lives, strengthen families, and make Ciudad Juárez a safer place for all. Every good gesture counts. Every donation matters. With your help, we can protect the children of today and create a peaceful future for tomorrow.
Join us in building a better tomorrow. Support the San Juan Diego Children’s Dining Room today.

Disease Prevention and Treatment
Once a year, we set a date to conduct a «Day Clinic.» During this event, we evaluate numerous children to identify the most suitable candidates for surgery. Certain conditions are generally not eligible, such as cases of cerebral palsy, as these require a neurologist rather than an orthopedist, or scoliosis, which typically involves multiple surgical procedures. Our goal is to achieve a significant improvement in the child’s quality of life with a single surgery, though in some cases, this may require up to two procedures.
Among the diagnoses we can support are: clubfoot, radial club hand, hip dysplasia, arthrogryposis, polydactyly, macrodactyly, syndactyly, and related conditions. Additionally, we offer treatments for bone elongation and lengthening, as well as correction of dislocated elbows, whether due to accident or congenital origin.
